Reports at the till

Takings, the shape of the day, best sellers, and every discount with a name behind it.

Where the reports are

The reports are in the back office of the till, computed by the shop's own server. They need no internet and cover every till in the shop, not just the one you are standing at.

Takings for a period

Sales gives you takings after refunds over any date range, with the payment breakdown underneath: how much came in as cash, how much on card, and how much on anything else.

That breakdown against your bank statement is the fastest reconciliation you will do all month.

The shape of the day

A daily trend shows the range day by day, and an hourly profile shows when the shop is actually busy.

Staff the hours the profile shows, not the hours you remember. Most shops are wrong about their own afternoons.

The average basket

The average basket is takings divided by sales. It moves when what people buy together changes, which makes it the honest measure of whether a counter display or a bundle worked.

Best sellers and slow movers

Rank products by revenue or by units over any range. Best sellers tell you what to reorder; slow movers tell you what is standing on money.

Ranking by revenue and by units gives two different lists, and the difference between them is usually where a pricing decision is hiding.

Discounts and price overrides

Every line sold below catalog price is listed with its reason, its receipt and how far below it went — and the person who did it.

This is the loss-prevention report. Read it weekly. A cashier discounting the same product to the same amount every Thursday is a pattern the till can show you and a spreadsheet cannot.

Refunds

Refunds are listed with their lines, their reasons, whether each line was restocked or written off, and the supervisor who approved them.

Shift reports

Shift history keeps every past shift with its opening float, its takings, its variance and the sales rung up during it, plus the X and Z reports it produced.

Over a month it answers the two questions worth asking about your people: whose drawer balances, and who is working the hours that take money.

The sales list

Under the figures is every individual sale over the range, with its receipt number, its cashier, its lines and its payment. It is how you get from a number that looks wrong to the sale that caused it.

Reporting across the online store too

With sync to a Dukan online store switched on, counter sales also feed your store-wide analytics, so online and counter revenue can be read as one figure.
