Three ways to arrange the same catalog
- Categories are what a thing is — Shoes, Kitchen, Winter coats. Every product should sit in at least one.
- Brands are who made it. One product has one brand.
- Collections are what you have chosen to group — New in, Ramadan gifts, Under 100 TMT. A product can be in any number of them.
Categories and brands describe the catalog. Collections are how you merchandise it.
Categories
Open Categories to see the whole tree. Each row shows how many products sit in it, and tapping the count opens exactly those products.
Create a category with a name in each of your store's languages, an optional image, and a parent if it belongs under another one.
Build the category tree
Categories nest. Drag a row to reorder it among its siblings, or move it under a different parent. The order you set is the order shoppers see on the storefront.
Deleting a category does not delete its children or its products. The children move up to where the deleted category sat, and the products simply lose that one category — nothing disappears from the catalog because a category did.
Hide a category
Every category has a visibility switch. Hiding one takes it off the storefront and out of the storefront's navigation, without touching the products in it or their other categories.
Use it for a seasonal aisle you bring back twice a year, rather than deleting and rebuilding it.
Brands
Open Brands to see every brand with its product count. A brand carries a name, an optional description, and a logo.
Upload a logo and the storefront uses it on brand pages and in the brand list. Clear it and the brand falls back to its name. Deleting a brand leaves its products in place; they simply have no brand until you set one.
Collections
A collection is a hand-picked list. Create one, give it a name, and add products through the picker — it searches the whole catalog a page at a time, so a large store stays workable.
Reorder the products inside a collection to control which ones lead. Reorder the collections themselves to control the order they appear on the storefront.
Hide a collection
Collections have the same visibility switch as categories. Build next season's collection now, leave it hidden, and make it visible on the morning it should go live.
Where shoppers meet them
Categories drive the storefront navigation and the category pages. Brands get their own pages. Collections appear wherever you place them — most often as a homepage section.
Storefront and themes covers how to put a category grid, a collection list, or a brand list on your homepage.
Manage them from your phone
Categories, brands and collections are all editable in the Manager app, including creating one mid-conversation while you are adding a product.
